AND...BACK ON THE DUBIOUS FOOT.



The approval process for the first genetically modified salmon began today in the US.  The AquAdvantage salmon is a genetically modified Atlantic salmon with a gene sequence from the ocean pout fish inserted, allowing the fish to grow at twice the speed as a regular salmon.  While the altered beast will be sterile -- thus avoiding cross-pollution issues that arise when farmed salmon break the big house and make it into the wild -- there are obviously still a host of unresolved issues.
